Location

L'Aquila, the capital town of Abruzzo, 100 Km East from Rome, is surrounded by the beautiful mountains of the Gran Sasso d'Italia. It was founded by the inhabitants of 99 castles, all situated on the mountains around it, in 1254 by orders of the Emperor Federico II of Swabia.
Many are the town's main monuments: the Fountain of the 99 Spouts (13th century), a symbol for the town, as it is related to the legend of its foundation; the 16th century Castle that contains the National Museum of Abruzzo, the Basilica of S. Maria di Collemaggio (13th century), a splendid piece of work of the Romanesque-Abruzzese architecture, the Basilica of S. Bernardino with its Renaissance style façade.

All School activities will take place in the Campus Guglielmo Reiss Romoli, located at about 5 km from L'Aquila. The School's physical structure reveals the commitment to provide students with every possible comfort during their free time.
The residential centre is located in the middle of 240,000 square meters park, next to the building housing the educational facilities. This centre contains a dining room, bar, meeting and games rooms, gymnasium, swimming pool. The ground also contain tennis courts, soccer fields and volleyball court, all illuminated for night-time use.


Transportation

Bus
Transportation to and from L'Aquila is provided by the ARPA bus company (approximately 1,5 hour trip, click here to see the timetable). Buses leave from Piazzale Stazione Tiburtina (near Tiburtina Railway Station) approximately every hour. Tickets must be purchased at ARPA Travel Agency located at the Piazzale Stazione Tiburtina. When in L'Aquila, you may take a taxi to the SSGRR (note that the taxi service run up to 23:00) or you may take a bus (AMA bus company) number 8. AMA service run up to 20:00.

Car
A24 expressway easily connects Rome and L'Aquila. If you drive your car, you have to leave A24 at L'Aquila Ovest exit; then turn right after the gate and, at the stop, turn right again. Follow the signs to "Campus Guglielmo Reiss Romoli". Drive for about 2 Km. and you will meet the building located on your left.
